Principal's Message

Welcome to the Congress Elementary School Family! Our District's Vision has two parts: "Students enjoy learning and success" and "Students discover the world and its opportunities."

The 2018-2019 school theme is “Embracing Excellence through Critical Thinking.” Ken Kay stated, "Today's students need critical thinking and problem-solving skills not just to solve the problems of their current jobs, but to meet the challenges of adapting to our constantly changing workforce." Critical thinking is identified in skills needed for our future workforce. The Partnership for 21
st Century identifies what skills future workers will need to be a part of a global economy. These skills are called, "The 4Cs": Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking. If you are interested in learning more about these traits, you can visit http://www.p21.org/ for more information. This school year, students will be developing their critical thinking skills as they collaborate with others to help solve real world challenges.

Congress Elementary School was identified as one of seven pilot schools for increasing STEM (Science, Technology, Education, Math) education, by Science Foundation Arizona, in the State of Arizona. Ongoing STEM programs, during the 2018-2019 school year, will include: MakerSpace, Legos Robotics, ST Math, DefinedSTEM, and a Drama program which integrates STEM. We look forward to continuing to showcase and share STEM accomplishments.

To support excellent instruction, the school instructional theme is "Embracing Excellence through Whole Child Education". To learn more about whole child education, please visit the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development's Whole Child website at:
