Principal's Message

Welcome to the Congress Elementary School Family! Our District's Vision has two parts: "Students enjoy learning and success" and "Students discover the world and its opportunities." The 2019-2020 school theme is “Embracing Excellence through Dreaming and Shaping Possibilities.” Emily Dickinson stated, “I dwell in possibility…” and Mahatma Gandhi stated, “Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”

As we return to school after celebrating the Fourth of July, what great possibilities have become a reality within America? First a dream was born, and the will of humanity then breathed life into the freedoms we enjoy. The Partnership for 21st Century identifies what skills future workers will need to be a part of a global economy. These skills are called, "The 4Cs": Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking. This school year, students will be developing their unique potential as they collaborate with others to dream possibilities and shape them to help solve real world challenges.

Ongoing STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs, during the 2019-2020 school year, will include: MakerSpace, Legos Robotics, ST Math, DefinedSTEM, and a Drama program which integrates STEM. We look forward to continuing to showcase and share STEM accomplishments.

To support excellent instruction, the school instructional theme is "Embracing Excellence through Whole Child Education". To learn more about whole child education, please visit the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development's Whole Child website at: http://www.wholechildeducation.org/. At Congress Elementary School, we are committed to facilitating the development of every child's maximum potential.

We appreciate the time and energy of all those involved with the school. This includes the elected Congress School Board members: Mr. Kent McGrew (School Board President), Mr. James Grogan, Mrs. Charmaine McKaskle, Ms. Brianna Barksdale, and Mr. Brian DeShazo. School Board meetings are held every second Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the school library.
