Congress Elementary School Goals

Academics:

All Students will meet Arizona Academic Standards with a score of Proficiency or Exceeds in the areas of Reading, Writing and Math as measured by AIMS of 2008-09 school year. In Reading and Writing  20% of the students will exceed the standard as measured by the AIMS test of 2008-09 school year.  In Math 38% of the students will exceed the standard as measured by the AIMS test of the 2008-09 school year.

Assessment:

Assessments will be identified or developed that accurately assess students in the areas of Science and align with AIMS by the 2008-09 school year.

Data collection from assessments will be used in the areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Technology to predict future performance of individual students and grade levels, to diagnose problems and develop solutions and plans.

Electronic portfolios will be developed at each grade level to assess student performance in meeting technology standards.

Staff Development:

All teachers will be trained in the areas of formal and informal reading assessments, AIMS Web assessments, STAR, Galileo assessments, 6 Traits Writing assessment, Reading Intervention Strategies, Direct Reading Instruction, Direct Writing Instruction/Strategies, Math Instructional strategies and Technology standards by the end of the 2008-09 school year. 

Staff development will include training in the following areas:  Investigations trainings, CGI training, Curriculum development in the areas of Vocabulary list development and assessment, and curriculum mapping, Technology, Writing, Brain Gym/Rock Wall training, current research studies during the 2008-09 school year. 

Technology:

The articulated Technology Standards will be taught at each grade level. An electronic portfolio will be used to monitor students' performance in meeting the grade level technology standards by the end of the 2008-09 school year.  Keyboarding standard will be taught and assessed at each grade level.

Safe/Secure School:

The Emergency Plan will be reviewed and practiced during the school year. Each classroom will be a need-fulfilling classroom.  Classroom meetings and activities will be scheduled to enhance the classroom/school environment.
