March 2020

 Dear Parents,

This year, the school theme is focused on Embracing Excellence through Dreaming and Shaping Possibilities. We have had many creative presentations by classes that explain differing aspects of reaching for goals and creative thinking. During the month of February, the eighth grade designed a bulletin board and used clouds to frame their individually written dreams.

February has been another sensational month at Congress Elementary School. During the first week, the school hosted its annual STEAM Showcase Night. This event fell on the 100th day of the school year and K-2 students enjoyed a fun 100 Day themed Spirit Day. Following Thursday night's event, Student Council hosted a REE-CESS Event the next Wednesday. Thursday, the 13th, marked the end of the Second Trimester and Parent-Teacher Conferences were held with the Honors Assembly happening the following week. Thank you to all those able to attend the many February events.

March promises to be another outstanding month. Our 4th-8th graders are busy practicing for the annual track meet. This will be held on Friday, March 13, at Wickenburg High School. After School Programs have also changed. Folklore Dancing began in February and will continue through March. Also, K-4 Sign Language Club, 5-8 STEAM Drama Club, and 2-5/6-8 Scrapbooking will all start in March. The efforts of the Yearbook Club are going to be visible soon. Orders for the yearbook have gone home and the cost is $10 due by Thursday, March 5.

Acknowledgments for students occurred during the Honors Assembly. Big congratulations to Kirra Davis! She is the Elks Student of the Trimester. Cynthia Solorzano is the Student of the Month for February highlighted by Wickenburg Air.

State testing this year (Grades 3-8) will continue to be administered by computer (versus a paper based) test. The testing schedule will begin at the end of March and be extended over the month of April. It will be as follows:
